3 Amazing Post Workout Smoothies

3 AMAZING POST-WORKOUT SMOOTHIES

ola

Working out is an important part of my weekly routine, as I am trying to follow a healthier lifestyle, by eating better and getting stronger and fitter. Before working out I try not to eat a lot of food because it will only burden my stomach and make me feel heavy and drowsy. Plus it will mess up my gastric reflex syndrome. I prefer to have some tea and orange juice before my workout because they give me a lot of energy in a natural way. After my workout I am usually very tired; sometimes I can barely walk. However, before having my recuperating mean, I always make myself a smoothie to replenish my energy levels. I make it right away because the most effective time for refuelling the body is within 30 mins of the workout. Depending on how energetic you feel, the bigger energy boost you need, the sweeter your smoothie should be. By sweet I refer to the fruits used for the smoothie. If your energy levels are not that low, you can use vegetables and less sweet fruits. I also love to add half a scoop of my favorite vanilla protein powder (SunWarrior Warrior Blend Raw Vanilla Powder) or 1-2 tsp of my Moon Dusts from Moon Juice. Below I share my 3 favorite post-workout smoothies. I love drinking them as much as I love making them. In all my smoothies I try to include a handful or two of greens because they are so nutritious for the body and it is a way to get my daily portion of greens besides salads. So let’s get started shall we?

Banana and Berry Protein Smoothie

2

1 handful of greens ( I like kale and spinach)

½ banana ( frozen optional )

¾ of a cup mixed berries ( frozen optional )

1 cup of chilled water

½ scoop of protein powder or 1-2 tsps of Action Moon Dust

1 tsp of flaxseeds

The greens are full with nutrients like mineral, vitamins and fiber. The banana adds potassium and carbs and the berries add antioxidants and fiber.

Orange and Avocado Protein Smoothie

1

1 handful of greens

2 oranges peeled

½ avocando cored and peeled

1 cup of chilled water

½ scoop of protein powder or 1-2 tsps of Spirit Moon Dust

1 tsp of flaxseeds or spirulina powder

Some of the ingredients are same with the other smoothies, like the greens, protein powder/moon dust and flaxseeds. In this smoothie though, we have oranges and avocado. Oranges and citrusy fruits in general, repair the cell damage that happens during the workout. avocados add protein, potassium and antioxidants. Just remember it has to be quite ripe to have the best flavor.

Tropical Green Protein Smoothie

3

1 handful of greens

½ mango peeled

1 handful of pineapple chunks

1 apple cored and peeled

1 cup of chilled water

½ scoop of protein powder or 1-2 tsps of Beauty Moon Dust

1 tsp of flaxseeds or chia seeds

Another lovely green smoothie full of antioxidants and vitamins. Apart from the usual greens though we have apple, mango and pineapple, some quite tropical fruits. Mango is a very sweet fruit which is great since its sugar can be converted into energy plus it is full with vitamin C. Pineapple is also sugary and full with vitamin C, but it can also help soothing any stomach pain and its anti-inflammatory properties can help with strained muscles after working out. Lastly, you all know how an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Apples are great energy boosters, but can also help with digestion and cholesterol.

Remember that in each recipe, you should blend the greens with the water first and then add the rest of the ingredients. I add the flaxseed and protein powder/moon dust at the end. A smoothie is a great way to cool down and recharge after a nice workout session. It could have anything you want from fruits and nuts to vegetables and superfoods. The above recipes are my three favorite post-workout smoothies. While Once I finish my workout, I can’t think of a better way to relax than enjoying one of these smoothies. I would love to know which are your favorite smoothies, so comment down below and share your most beloved recipes. Also, don’t forget to pop over my Instagram (@vogueandmacarons) and Twitter (@vogueandmacaron) and say hello!

Perfect Eyebrows + My Eyebrow Routine

HOW TO GET THE PERFECT EYEBROWS + MY EYEBROW ROUTINE

1

One of my favorite parts while doing my makeup, is the eyebrows. I just love eyebrows! I believe that they basically frame the face and give some structure to it. Imagine how weird your face would look without eyebrows. I know right? Therefore, eyebrows are a very important part of any makeup routine.

The first thing is to give the right shape to your eyebrows. By right I mean the shape that suits and flatters your face the most. The best thing would be to follow the natural arch and pluck it based on that. The two ends of your eyebrow are guided by your nose and your eye. So basically to find the beginning of your eyebrow mark a straight line from your nostril and up. Where your nostril ends is where your eyebrow begins. The end of your eyebrow is found my placing a ruler or a pencil diagonally from your nostril to the outer corner of your eye. This is where the eyebrow should end. To find your arch, you get the very same pencil/ruler and from the end of your nostril (like all the previous times), you take it at the centre of your pupil and up. That’s how you find where the highest part of your arch should be. It is an easy peasy way to map your eyebrows.

My eyebrow routine-Favorite products

When I groom my eyebrows, I basically pluck them where I need to in order to maintain my shape, and then I also use a tiny pair of scissors to trim them a little bit. I also use alcohol before I start plucking, to open up my pores a little so the process won’t hurt that much. Of course, I also brush them through the entire process so I can see how they will look eventually.

8

When I am doing my eyebrow makeup, I use a few products I really like. For feeling in my brows I use a pencil or a shadow. My favorite pencil is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Medium Brown. I absolutely love that pencil because it has a very fine tip, which is perfect for creating a natural (not overdrawn) look. Plus it has a spooley brush as well.

2

When I have more time at hand, I prefer to use a shadow than a pencil. My favorite duo is from the Naked 2 Basics palette from Urban Decay. I use the second darkest shade called Primal for the first half of my brow up to my arch, because this is a lovely taupe-brown shade that will keep the look natural. If I used a darker shade my eyebrows would look unnatural and overdrawn. For the second part of the brow I use the darkest shade called Undone, because it is a cool-toned dark brown, which is perfect for filling in my sparse part. I use an angled brush because of its shape.

6

7

After I am done with the filling of the brows, I brush them with the spooley to blend any excess product and then I use my Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel to set my eyebrow so there won’t be any unruly hair flying to different directions. Sometimes when I am too lazy to fully do my eyebrows, I use a tinted eyebrow gel to fill them in a little and set them at the same time. I mostly use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel in Brunette but lately I am loving Benefit’s Gimme Brow in Medium/Dark. Both of them are lovely.

9

Besides the products mentioned above, I also love Urban Decay’s Brow Box in Brown Sugar. It is an amazing all-in-one product as it has 2 shades for the brows, a pair of tweezers, two angled brushes and wax to set the brows. An amazing tool perfect for daily use or when travelling.

Brows are an important part of the face; they add structure to all the characteristics. Therefore, grooming them is an important part of a makeup look. It doesn’t matter what you use to get the right brow; it could be shadow, pencil or simply a tinted brow gel. No matter what you choose to use or how you choose to do your eyebrows, keep in mind that they should always frame your face and highlight your features. Try not to overdo them but instead always keep them natural-looking. It doesn’t matter how thin or thick they are as long as they look natural and not like glued on or drawn on. I would love to know your eyebrow routine and your favorite eyebrow products. Also lets connect on my Instagram (@vogueandmacarons) or Twitter (@vogueandmacaron).

Off-The-Shoulder Trend

OFF-THE-SHOULDER TREND

Every time I see a top with the shoulders exposed, my inner Esmeralda (Hunchback of Notre Dame) awakes. I love the bohemian and gypsy vibes that an off-shoulder blouse gives. Wearing an off-shoulder dress or top, is a very sexy way of showing some skin without revealing too much. It is an elegant and playful look. The off-shoulder neckline has been popular for decades with style icons like Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin rocking the style. Lately, with the whole 70’s trend comeback, the off-shoulders tops have been everywhere. They are versatile pieces you can match to a pair of jeans or shorts for a boho look, or to a pair of black pants or skirt for a more sophisticated and elegant look. I love how you can basically dress them up and down. Apart from the tops, equally popular are the off-shoulder dresses. They create a sultry look which I personally love. I am actually an off-shoulder girl more than a cleavage girl. I feel sexier in a midi dress with my shoulders exposed than in a midi dress with low cleavage. Also lets not forget the playsuits. An off-shoulder playsuit is a perfect alternative to a two-pieces look. It channels a very playful and carefree vibe. It is the perfect easy outfit for a day where you just can’t put an outfit together. With spring slowly setting in, off-shoulder tops, dresses and playsuits are a wardrobe must. Below are some of my favorite picks that are perfect for channeling your inner bohemian girl or gypsy queen.

ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks Review and Swatches

COLOURPOP ULTRA MATTE LIQUID LIPSTICK REVIEW AND SWATCHES

 OLA

Liquid lipsticks are a new trend that has emerged the last couple of years. They are basically lipsticks in the form of a lip gloss, which ultimately dries matte on the lips. The idea of a lipstick that is absolutely matte thrilled me, as I love lipsticks with a matte finish more than any other lip product. Although I already own and love a couple of Too Faced Melted lipsticks, for a while now I wanted to try the famous ColourPop Ultra Matte liquid lipsticks that everyone is raving about.

I ordered 8 – yes 8! – because it was simply hard to choose from the huge variety of colors. Plus they are very affordable at 6 $ which is cheaper than any other lipstick I own. Once I put them on, I saw what the whole fuss was about; the lipsticks are amazing! First thing’s first, they are very easy to apply because of the shape of their wand. Secondly they dry extremely fast; by the time I am done with my upper lip, my lower has already dried. They are very pigmented, which means they cover my natural lip color entirely, plus you can easily built them up by going darker and darker. Once they have dried you don’t feel there is anything on your lips. They are very light and they are not drying the lips at all. They truly are the mattest thing I have ever put on my lips. This part alone is what makes me super excited for them. I love anything that is really matte, so immediately these lipsticks earned a place in my hard. Lastly, they can last for a long, long time. You can actually eat, drink or even kiss someone and the lipstick will remain unphased. I have never seen anything like this before. This exact feature is also the only downfall as it does take a minute or two to properly remove the lipstick from my lips. I have to use my best makeup remover and actually rub my lips in order to get it all off. Because of the rubbing, the area around my mouth is stained with red color, but this is easily fixed with some powder. Best part is that you don’t feel like you have anything on your lips, plus the lipstick doesn’t dry the lips out at all, despite being matte. Bellow there are swatches of all the 8 lipsticks I got so far!

SWATCHES

I really love my ColourPop Ultra Matte lipsticks. They are seriously amazing. The formula is rich, pigmented, non-drying for the lips and it dries pretty fast and pretty matte. Add an incredibly low price and you have the best liquid lipstick combination ever! I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for some great, affordable, matte liquid lipsticks. Do you guys like liquid lipsticks and if so which one is your favorite? If you have tried ColourPop which shade do you like? 4 AMAZING MOISTURIZERS FOR DRY SKIN

4  AMAZING MOISTURIZERS FOR DRY SKIN

KREMES 3 Dry skin is a problem we all have encountered at some point of our lives. Although I would not normally characterize my skin as dry, in the winter due to the cold weather and humid atmosphere, it can get pretty dry. This is really frustrating as I hate seeing my skin flakey and dry, plus it is more challenging to apply my makeup and for the makeup itself to last. In order to keep my skin hydrated and soft, I apply a moisturizing cream every day. I like to alternate my moisturizers because once my skin gets used to a product, the product doesn’t work anymore. All the moisturizers mentioned below are my favorites and I am really satisfied with all of them.

Lancome Binefait Multi-Vital Night

LANCOME

This is my favorite night moisturizer. I use it literally every night for the past 3 weeks and I am really happy with it. It has a light, sheer feel but it is a very rich moisturizer. A small quantity is enough for my entire face. It doesn’t have an unpleasant scent, and it doesn’t have any oily residue. It moisturizes my skin incredibly. Once it is fully absorbed, my skin feels very smooth and soft. In the morning my skin looks plum and clear. It has a nice healthy look and it is still very soft. I absolutely love this cream!

Givenchy Hydra Sparkling Moisturizing Cream

GIVENCHY

I have this moisturizer for a couple of years now and it doesn’t fail to satisfy me every time. It is a thick, creamy moisturizer that is easily applied and instantly absorbed by the skin. It makes my skin immediately soft and smooth. It moisturizes it and keeps it hydrated for hours. It has shea butter which does wonder for the skin, as it gives it a nice and fresh glow. It does have a perfume scent which might be unpleasant to some, but I personally am not bothered at all. I really like how good my skin feels afterwards.

Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte’s Magic Cream

CHARLOTTE TILBURY

I got this cream as part of the Gift Of Goddess holiday set and I was really looking forward to try it. I was instantly in love with it. With its SPF 15 it is the perfect day moisturizer. It has an amazing scent, as it smells like roses and gardenia. It is easily absorbed, although it is quite thick. Again a small quantity is enough for the entire face, as it is easily applied. I love how smooth and soft my skin feels afterwards; so plum and fresh. Plus it is protected from the damaging sun rays. Hydrated, soft and protected; what more can you ask for your skin?

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream

KIEHL'S

Kiehl’s moisturizer is another favorite of mine. It is a nice, thick moisturizer without an unpleasant scent. It is easily applied on the skin like the others and it has a sheer finish, which means it is absorbed quite fast. It does stay on the skin a little longer than the others though. It makes the skin very hydrated and it is supposed to keep it that way for an entire day! I really enjoy wearing this moisturizer when I don’t intend to put makeup on as it takes a little longer to be absorbed.

Moisturizing your skin is one of the most important daily rituals that should never be omitted. Not only dry skin needs moisturizing; any type of skin needs hydration. It is a way to keep the skin soft, plum and glowing. All these moisturizers are equally amazing. They make my skin smooth, fresh and hydrated. I can’t pick out my favorite one as they are all great. There is the one for the night, the one for the day when going out and the others for any moment really. I would love to hear which are your favorite moisturizers and why. 6 SUGARY KEY PIECES FOR SPRING

6 SUGARY KEY PIECES FOR SPRING

March has arrived and we all what that means: spring has arrived as well! Maybe not fully yet, since the weather is still a bit chilly occasionally, but undoubtedly spring is slowly setting in. Just in a few weeks from now, the weather will be much warmer and brighter than currently and your wardrobe has to be ready to match the new wonderful weather. These 6 pieces are inspired by the powdery, pastel palette and they are the perfect pieces to take you from the cold and gloomy winter to the warm and vivid spring. I absolutely love powdery colors, especially pink; therefore, I am very excited to incorporate these pieces to my own wardrobe. The pieces include clothes as well as accessories, because an outfit is incomplete without accessories.

The powdery blue coat

Image1: http://www.missguided.com

Now you all know how much I love pastel pink; from all the pastel colors it is my favorite. However, this year, in order to stir up the routine, a lovely pastel blue coat is a great choice. Blue is very versatile color, as it works incredibly well with denim. It could easily replace the casual denim jacket and transform the look into something a little more sophisticated. It is also a lighter version of the navy blue coat. Blue is the color of the spring, cloudless sky. This Missguided cocoon coat (image1) in pastel blue and this ASOS below-the-knee coat (image2) in the same color are great alternatives to the usual pink coat. They are quite simple therefore perfect for daytime and casual outfits.

The baby pink flats

Image1: http://www.asos.com

I am a flat shoe lover. Being tall makes quite inconvenient for me to walk around 4 inch heels every day, plus I would totally look like a giant. I like how flat shoes apart from being very comfortable, they are also very girly and minimal. They complete my dreamy spring casual look. A pair of baby pink flats will be perfect for a pastel inspired spring outfit. They match with a variety of colors, which makes them a very versatile choice. These ASOS ballet flats with cutouts (image1) and these beautiful dusty pink lace-up flats from ASOS (image2) as well, have really caught my eye. They will look amazing with a cute, skater dress or even a pair of jeans. I love how they add a girly vibe to any plain outfit. Both pairs are simply gorgeous.

The pastel bag

www.zara.com
Image2: http://www.zara.com

Image1: http://www.michaelkors.com

In order to complete a sugary-colored outfit, you need a bag in a candy color; blue, pink, lavender or yellow, it doesn’t really matter as all these colors are wonderful and they all magically match to each other. My personal favorite is either pink or blue, because I find these colors the easiest to match and combine. I also love lilac a lot but it is neither as popular as pink nor as easy as to incorporate into an outfit. I am absolutely in love with this Michael Kors baby blue bag (image1). It is very simple with no pockets or compartments; just one zipper. I love its simplicity and convenience. It is a very pretty bag yet due to its color it definitely stands out. A more affordable option is this lovely salmon colored ZARA bag (image2). I actually have the winter version of this bag, which is black and brown. I really like this color as I don’t find it very ordinary. I have way too many bags but surprisingly none in this color. I think it’s a beautiful and elegant color, perfect for a casual spring look.

The lavender dress

Image1: www.asos.com
Image1: http://www.asos.com
Image2: www.missguided.com
Image2: http://www.missguided.com

A cute skater dress in a pastel color is the perfect choice for spring. It is very girly and playful like the spring weather. I really love purple and all the shades of it. Lavender/lilac is my favorite shade. I love it because it is a romantic color but a little edgier than pink. This gorgeous ASOS skater dress (image1) is very simple; no decorations or special cuts. Just a plain, long sleeve skater dress, whose color alone makes it stand out. Also I really like this Missguided knit off-shoulder lilac dress (image2). It has a casual and relaxed vibe, but the exposed shoulder adds sexiness to it. A pair of thigh-high boots and this dress would make a killer outfit.

The pink-gold sunglasses

Image1: www.rayban.com
Image1: http://www.rayban.com
Image2: www.katespade.com
Image2: http://www.katespade.com

A pair of sunglasses is a necessary accessory of a warm-weather outfit. Not only it is convenient due to the sunny weather, it also tops off the entire look. This pair of the original Rayban aviator shades (image1) is simply beautiful; perfect bright pink shades with a delicate gold frame. The pair shades any girl needs for her joyful spring looks. These Kate Spade sunglasses (image2) are also a lovely spring choice. They come out in baby pink and mint color, which are the perfect spring pastels. Their cat-eye shape differs from the classic aviator one; it is a bit more feminine and sophisticated. I really like both pairs as they both stand out.

The colorful bracelet

Image1: www.katespade.com
Image1: http://www.katespade.com
Image2: www.katespade.com
Image2: http://www.katespade.com

A look is not complete without jewellery. A bracelet, a ring or a necklace is the finishing touch to any outfit; they polish it. Since the pastel colors are this season’s must, a bracelet with all these lovely colors, is the best jewellery you could have this spring. This gorgeous Kate Spade bracelet (image1)combines all the colors mentioned above and then some. Therefore, it goes with practically everything. It is so bright and vivid; perfect for spring. Another alternative would be another cute Kate Spade bracelet (image2), which instead of many different stripes of color has many colorful ice creams. This is such a lovely and unique bracelet!

March is the first month of spring; the season where the flowers bloom and the weather just gets warmer and warmer. Therefore, a wardrobe change is necessary. It is time to slowly move from the dark and gloomy colors of winter to brighter and lighter colors. When it comes to spring and summer color palette, pastel shades never go out of fashion. Who doesn’t love candy-color inspired clothes and accessories? From romantic dresses and shoes to playful accessories, pastel shades are a season must. They are the best choice for moving on to the new season.   Comment down below and share your favorite pastel shade. You know mine is pink!
